After a lengthy mandatory water conservation order, the Onondaga County Water Authority (OCWA) has shifted to a voluntary approach, marking a significant change in water management practices. This shift comes as a broken transmission line has been successfully repaired, and the water system is back in operation. However, the journey to full restoration is not yet complete. Water quality testing will continue to ensure the safety of the water before it is released back into the system. The affected communities, including the Town of DeWitt, Town of Manlius, Town of Pompey, Town of Lenox, Town of Lincoln, and Town of Sullivan, will remain under voluntary conservation measures until the Eastern Reservoir is refilled to its normal levels. This is expected to happen later this week, according to OCWA. During this time, car washes in the affected areas are requested to limit their operations to a maximum of 10 hours per day.
