iHeartMedia's Strategic Shift: The Game Wisconsin Network Discontinues, New Morning Show on WOKY & WTSO
In a recent development, iHeartMedia has made a significant move in the radio broadcasting landscape of Wisconsin. After a strategic shift in October, where they transitioned Sports ‘97.3 The Game’ WRNW Milwaukee to an AC format, iHeartMedia has now decided to discontinue its statewide ‘The Game’ network across Wisconsin.
The network's demise has led to the conclusion of the 10am-2pm ‘DND’ show, hosted by Doug Russell, Nick Bruesewitz, and Dave Gasper, as well as the afternoon show, which was recently hosted by Drew Olson and Hunter Baumgardt following Kevin ‘KB’ Brandt's departure. This decision marks a significant change in the programming landscape for Wisconsin sports radio listeners.
However, iHeartMedia has not left its listeners in the lurch. Instead, they have launched a new morning show on ‘Fox Sports 920’ WOKY Milwaukee and WTSO, featuring current 6-10am hosts Bill Schmid and Armen Saryan, joined by the former afternoon host Drew Olson. The new show, titled ‘The Huddle’, will air from 5-8am on both stations, offering a fresh and exciting start to the day for sports enthusiasts.
This strategic move by iHeartMedia highlights the dynamic nature of the radio industry, where networks and programming formats evolve to meet the changing preferences of listeners. As the network winds down, iHeartMedia is ensuring a smooth transition for its audience, providing a new and engaging morning show on WOKY & WTSO.
